MeowBook is a social network dedicated to cat lovers, allowing each user to create a personalized profile for their four-legged companion. The main goal is to connect cat owners, share moments of life, and facilitate interactions between enthusiasts.

Users can:

• Create a detailed profile for their cat, including information such as its name, breed, age, color, weight, hobbies, and even unique traits (vaccinations, disabilities, etc.).
• Post photos or videos with descriptions, and interact with others' posts (comments, likes, dislikes).
• Publish ads to connect people looking to sell or adopt a cat — without handling financial transactions.
• Join a matchmaking space specifically designed to find a partner for their cat, with the option to leave this space at any time.
• Communicate via private messaging, with message storage limited to 30 days and the ability to block other users if needed.
• Receive notifications to stay updated on important activities.

MeowBook guarantees that data usage is strictly limited to its proper functioning, without external exploitation or resale of personal information.

Acceptance of Terms

The use of our application implies full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms of Use as well as the associated Privacy Policy.

By downloading, installing, and using the application, the user acknowledges having read, understood, and accepted these documents without reservation.

If the user does not accept these terms, they are invited to stop using the application and uninstall it immediately.

We reserve the right to modify the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy at any time to adapt them to possible legal, functional, or technical changes. The user will be informed of any updates, and continued use of the application after such changes will constitute acceptance of the new terms.

Collection and processing of personal data

Main Features

Our application offers a range of features designed to facilitate communication, sharing, and connection among cat enthusiasts.

Content Posting

Users can:

• Post photos or videos of their cats with a description.
• Comment on other users' posts.
• Reply to comments to foster engagement.
• Like or dislike posts and comments.
• Report content (posts, comments, listings) that appears inappropriate or against the application's rules. Each report will be reviewed to determine if the content should be removed.

The user retains ownership of the content they post but grants the application a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display it on the platform.

Story Posting

Users can also:

• Share stories in the form of photos or videos with a short description.
• Receive comments on their stories (if enabled).

Stories have a limited lifespan and automatically disappear after 24 hours.

Podcast Publishing and Listening

Users have the ability to share or listen to podcasts directly on the application.

• Record a podcast via a form and send it to the platform.
• Upload an MP3 file or record a podcast live, enter a title and description, then publish the podcast.
• Listen to podcasts uploaded by other users.

Published podcasts remain accessible even if the user's account is private. At any time, users can delete the podcasts they have uploaded.

Cat Sale Listings

Each user can:

• Create a listing to offer a cat for sale (including photo, description, and price).
• View listings posted by other members.
• Directly contact the listing author to discuss the sale.

Important: The application acts solely as a platform for connecting buyers and sellers. No financial transactions are managed by the application. Users are solely responsible for the arrangements made.

Matching Space

The application offers a dedicated space for cat owners to find a "partner" for their feline.

• Profile information of the cat (name, age, breed, postal code, etc.) is displayed in this space.
• Users can browse profiles and contact those they are interested in.
• The user can withdraw from this space at any time via account settings, removing their profile from this section.

Private Messaging

Users can communicate with each other via an integrated private messaging system.

• Conversations are strictly private, and sent or received messages are encrypted. Only the users involved can read them.
• Messages are automatically deleted after 30 days to ensure proper data management.
• It is possible to block a user to stop receiving messages or interactions from them.
• Use the trash bin icon to delete a conversation after pressing and holding it for 2 seconds.
• The user can create discussion groups with up to 10 participants simultaneously.
• At any time, the user can leave a group or delete all their messages in the group, for themselves and all interlocutors.
• Only the user who created the group can delete the discussion group.
• Only users connected to the current user can be added to a discussion group by them.

Notifications

The application sends notifications to keep the user informed about important activities:

• New comments, likes, or replies on their posts.
• Received private messages.
• Activity on a listing or a matching profile.
• Reminders or important updates.

Users can choose their notification preferences in their account settings.

Notifications are automatically deleted after 7 days.

Types of Notifications

The application offers three types of notifications to efficiently inform users:

• Local push notifications: These notifications appear only if the application is running in the background. A persistent notification stating "Notification service active" is displayed on the phone to inform the user that the application is running in the background, allowing them to receive notifications on their device.
• In-app notifications: These notifications appear in a snackbar, regardless of the screen or activity, ensuring immediate visibility.
• Notifications displayed on the homepage: When the user clicks on the bell icon in the header, a window appears listing all notifications received in the last 30 days.

It is important to note that if the application is not running in the background, the user will not receive notifications.

Friendship and Following Relationship

• A user who follows another will receive their stories and a notification when they publish a post or a story.
• Your friends' posts will appear first, you will receive a notification for their birthdays, and you will be able to add them to a messaging group.

Private Account

Each user can set their account to private at any time.

When the account is private:

• The user will not receive any messages except from friends.
• Their profile will be removed from the matching space.
• All market listings will be unpublished but not deleted.
• Their profile information will be hidden except for friends.
• Only friends can see their posts and receive their stories.

Cat Of Empires - The Game

The user can access the game by providing a mandatory username, which will be used to identify their profile and track their progress.

By participating, the user agrees that their actions in the game (scores, progress, etc.) will be recorded to ensure the proper functioning of the application.

The username must comply with good conduct rules: any offensive or inappropriate content may result in account deletion without notice.

The publisher reserves the right to modify or interrupt the game at any time, without obligation of compensation.

The user can delete their game account at any time.

Moderation and Sanctions

To ensure a respectful, secure, and pleasant experience for all users, our application enforces a strict moderation policy.

Moderation Powers

The moderation team reserves the right to intervene at any time in case of non-compliance with the Terms of Use.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Content removal: any post, story, listing, or comment violating the rules may be removed without prior notice.

The application does not guarantee in any way:

• The success of meetings between cat owners or compatibility between profiles.
• The completion of sales or adoptions of cats through the published listings.
• The accuracy of information provided by other users (profiles, listings, intent, etc.).

Each user is responsible for their interactions and choices when using the offered features.

No Involvement in Financial Transactions

The application does not handle any financial transactions between users. Thus:

• No money is transferred through the platform.
• The application does not intervene in negotiations between buyers and sellers.
• In case of disputes or disagreements between users (sales, adoptions, etc.), the application cannot be held responsible for any damages, losses.

Users are advised to exercise caution and common sense during exchanges, particularly for sales or adoption listings.

Amendment of Terms

The application reserves the right to modify, supplement, or update these Terms of Use at any time to adapt to legal, technical, or functional developments.

Right to Modification

We may modify the Terms of Use in the following cases:

User Notification

The application acts solely as a platform facilitating connections between users. As such, it cannot be held liable for the following situations:

• Issues between users: any disputes or disagreements between users (sales, adoptions, meetings, behavior, etc.) remain the exclusive responsibility of the parties involved.
• Reliability of information: the application does not guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or completeness of information provided by users (profiles, listings, messages, etc.).
• Financial transactions: since no transactions are managed by the application, it cannot be held liable for financial losses, scams, or misunderstandings during a cat sale or adoption.
• Technical issues: the application cannot be held liable for service outages, bugs, data loss, hacking, or service unavailability.
• Misuse of the application: any improper or non-compliant use of the application is the sole responsibility of the user involved.
• Physical meetings: the application cannot be held liable for problems arising from physical meetings between users. Users must act with caution and common sense.

The user acknowledges that they use the application at their own risk and accepts that the application cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect, material or non-material damage resulting from its use.

Competent Jurisdiction

To ensure the proper functioning of the application and provide a personalized experience, we collect two types of data: user-provided data and automatically generated data.

User-Provided Data

When creating a profile and using the features, the user voluntarily provides information related to their cat. This data is necessary to personalize the cat's profile and enable interactions with the community.

The information collected includes:

Cat Profile:

• Name
• Postal code (to locate nearby cats)
• Age
• Breed
• Color
• Size
• Weight
• Gender
• Vaccination status
• Disability (if applicable)
• Hobby (favorite activity)
• Introduction (free description of the cat)
• "Deceased" status (option to indicate that a cat has passed away while keeping its profile visible)

Posts:

• Photos or videos shared on the news feed or in stories
• Descriptions accompanying the content
• Comments and replies
• Reactions (likes, dislikes)

Cat Sale Listings:

• Photo of the cat for sale
• Price set by the user
• Description of the listing

Information for the Matching Space:

• Cat profile data visible to other users in this space (name, age, breed, postal code, etc.)
• Owner's preferences (looking for a partner or friendship between cats)

Automatically Generated Data

The application also generates and stores certain data to ensure proper functioning:

Private Messages:

• Temporary storage of conversations for 30 days before automatic deletion.

Notifications:

• Recording of notifications sent to inform the user about important activities (new comments, likes, received messages, interesting listings).

Purpose of Collected Data

We collect and use data solely to ensure a smooth, personalized, and secure experience on our application.

We are committed to never selling, renting, or sharing your data—or your cat's data—with third parties for commercial purposes.

Ensuring the Functionality

The collected data enables the activation and functioning of the application's essential features, such as:

• Creating and managing the cat's profile.
• Posting content (photos/videos, comments, reactions).
• Publishing and managing cat sale listings.

Improving User Experience

This data is public solely to facilitate interactions between the application and each user's profile.

Data is used solely for the functioning and improvement of the application—nothing else.

Cat Of Empire

In case of victory in the game, the player has the option, not mandatory, to fill out a form to receive a reward (a personalized cap).

The requested data (last name, first name, postal address) will be used exclusively for sending the prize and will be immediately deleted after shipment.

No data will be retained or shared with third parties. The user can refuse to provide this information without losing their winner status.

Data Storage and Security

We make every effort to protect your data and that of your cats against unauthorized access, loss, or theft.

Data Storage on Firebase

The collected data (cat profiles, posts, messages, listings, etc.) is stored on Firebase, a secure solution developed by Google.

• Firebase is designed to ensure the reliability and performance of data storage.
• Information is stored on secure servers and replicated to prevent any data loss.
• No superfluous or commercial data is collected or stored.

Implemented Security Measures

To prevent data leaks or fraudulent access, we have integrated several layers of security:

Data Encryption:

• Data is encrypted during transmission between your device and our servers (via the HTTPS protocol).
• Sensitive information is also encrypted server-side to prevent any exploitation in case of hacking.

Access Controls:

• The profile pictures of application users as well as the game profile picture (Cat Of Empires) are publicly accessible in order to optimize user experience.
• For the same reasons, the cat image generated with the user's profile characteristics is also public.
• Only the user can access their account using their credentials (or another secure authentication method).
• The application's administrators have strictly limited access to the data, only within the scope of moderation or in case of reporting.

Protection Against Attacks:

• Firebase integrates advanced firewalls and intrusion detection to prevent malicious attacks.
• Regular backups are performed to allow quick recovery in case of technical issues.

We remind users that account security also depends on them: it is important to choose a strong password and not share it with others.

Data Retention Period

We apply a limited data retention policy to respect the privacy of our users and their cats. Each user retains full control over their information and can modify or delete their data at any time.

Temporary Data with Automatic Deletion

Certain data is retained for a limited period and then automatically deleted:

• Private messages: retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted, with no possibility of recovery.
• Stories (photos/videos): automatically deleted after 24 hours.
• Notifications: deleted after 30 days to avoid unnecessary clutter.

Data Deletable on Request

Users can delete their data at any time through their account settings or directly from the relevant content:

• Posts (photos, videos, descriptions, comments, listings): deletable at any time by the user.
• User account and all associated data (cat profile, posts, messages, listings, etc.): the user can permanently delete their account through the settings, resulting in the immediate and irreversible deletion of all linked data.
• Matching space: the user can withdraw from the matching space at any time through their settings, which will instantly remove their profile from this section without affecting their main account.

After two years of inactivity, the user's account and data will be deleted, with no possibility of recovery.

Their posts, podcasts, and comments will be anonymized.

Data Sharing with Third Parties

We take the confidentiality of our users' and their cats' data very seriously. As such, no personal data is shared, sold, or exchanged with third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.

No Resale or Data Transmission

• No data sales: we do not monetize your personal information or your cat's data.
• No sharing with external partners for advertising targeting or marketing.
• No external commercial exploitation of data provided in the application.

Use of Firebase as a Database

We use Firebase, a secure platform provided by Google, to store the data necessary for the proper functioning of the application.

What Firebase does (and does not do):

• Firebase only acts as a database to store profiles, posts, messages, and other information related to the application's features.
• Firebase stores nothing beyond what is necessary for the application.
• The data is neither analyzed nor sold by Firebase or Google for advertising purposes.
• The data is protected by advanced encryption and security systems.

User Rights

Each user has full control over their data and can exercise the following rights at any time:

• Right to access: view all data associated with your account.
• Right to rectification: modify or update your information through account settings.
• Right to deletion: permanently delete your account and all associated data.

Account Deletion Process

You can delete your account directly from the application. To do so, open the My Account section and tap the gear icon located in the top-right corner of the screen. A menu will appear, and at the bottom of this menu you will find a Delete Account button. Once you tap this button, your account will be permanently deleted.

If you have lost your password and can no longer access your account, you may request deletion by contacting our support team. Please send an email to meowbook@outlook.fr specifying that you wish to delete your account and include the email address associated with it. Our customer service team will then process the deletion on your behalf.

Changes will take effect upon publication. Continued use of the application implies acceptance of the new conditions.

If a user does not accept the new version of the policy, they will have the option to delete their account and data through the settings.
